Work on St Catherine’s is moving along steadily. I’m now at the painting stage. The first painting layer is always an organic process. Once finished I need to leave it to dry and the paint alters as it dries. Colours mix and separate. It’s one of the stages I love most because I’m never 100%

We have colour! Just the first stage of painting but colour none the less. Next I apply darker colours and blow the paint around. But I have to leave it to dry otherwise the paint blooms instead of forming lovely tendrills. Now I need to be patient and not start the next step too soon.

Cotton Mills are impressive structures… And complicated. But by ‘eck they look good when you get ’em right! And I think I’ve got this one right. In fact, I’m very pleased how it’s turning out.
