The latest small architecture painting, in the 4950 series, you’ll either find charming or really annoying.
Charming if you’ve been anywhere near Stowe Landscape Gardens with a child and love quirky architectural features, bells or even small pictures like this. Annoying if you’ve ever visited the gardens with a small (or not so small) child.
For the uninitiated, the chain that’s hanging down allows visitors to Stowe gain access to the gardens through the gate in the wall by pulling to ring the bell for attention. The gate is usally open, so ringing the bell is not usually required. But for every child who can reach the chain, that chain has to be pulled and the bell rings out for all to hear.
Did I mention that it’s a loud bell?
It may never BE necessary to ring the bell but has that ever stopped any child from swinging on the chain with all their might? I testify for all parents who visit Stowe that No, it hasn’t. The sun will freeze over before such a strange event is likely to occur.
Fortunately Small Architecture Paintings don’t make a sound.
So here is the bell, silent!
Enjoy!
