Do you see a robot in this door painting?
You know how when you see something, it’s really hard not to see it? Sometines in a painting, you see something unintentional. Like in this door painting. The only trouble is, once you’ve seen it, you can’t unsee it. The initial impression on your mind takes over and it’s always there.
When I started painting number 37 in the 4950 series I ended up with this image at the end of the first day.
I see eyes, sticky up “hair” and it reminds me of Wall-e though for the life of me, I don’t know why. Or maybe it’s some other robot from an animated series. It’s the yellowy white dots and an active imagination.

With further painting and the removal of the masking, there is a door there, but that robot’s still in there. I’ve tried closing my eyes, distracting myself, but nope. I can still see him and he’s taunting me…
