Today is supposed to a stained glass painting. I naturally thought of a window but I had trouble finding one, although it may have been that part of me didn’t want to.
Part of the issue is there are surprisingly few in North Buckinghamshire. Lots of Churches but most have plain glass windows. Then there’s the fact there were other features on the building I wanted to use in other paintings. Back to the using each building only once.
Then again, maybe I just didn’t want to. I’ve been trying to keep all the features visible from outside and stained glass always looks best from within the building. You need external light to show up all those brilliant colours.
Looking out one evening at this weather vane I noted the colour of the sky and it reminded me of stained glass. Maybe that was the way to go.
And weather vanes are architectural features, are they not?
Problem solved.
