Looking for Urban Art inspiration? Take a walk.

It’s an elusive thing, the artistic muse. Urban Art inspiration happens in the strangest places. Sometimes it’s obvious, and others it creeps up on you.

When I’m looking for Urban Art inspiration, I take a hike and wander around London? (Or Manchester, or whatever city draws my attention.

Take a walk off the beaten path. Slip down a side street or an alley and you’ll find treasures to behold.

Sometimes Urban Art inspiration’s an abandoned scene

Like the one that inspired White Bicycle here.

Or the way the buildings come together, like in Which Way

Which Way is a Lime Street view looking towards the Gherkin. The way the buildings curve along this road really caught my eye. It’s choc full of interesting features! But then much of London is, if you enjoy Architecture.

Oh, and BTW, the Lloyds building on the left is one of my favourite inspirational subjects and has crept into a number of my urban painting scenes..

Or just a wall can encourage urban art.

Reflected glory came from a fascination with the adjacent structures on a part of wall, the brickwork, marble and pipe, with a tantalising glimpse of a car in the window.

Then there are hidden gems,

Like this Gold Grasshopper, for instance, on Lombard Street. It’s been there a while.
