How Masking can lead you to Grow Your Creativity?
Most artists are afraid of making mistakes but there is no need to be. Learn how to liberate your watercolour painting and have fun in the process.

Join artist Cathy Read in a workshop and learn how to release your creativity.

A master of masking, Award winning Artist Cathy Read creates distinctive Architectural paintings and will show how she uses masking techniques to make them. All without tearing paper! You will then get the chance to create your own masterpiece, with all the help you need.
If you want to apply paint with freedom to express yourself then masking will bring a whole new dimension to your art. The trouble with watercolour is that if you paint white over an area it will never glow as much as the paper itself. To achieve white areas you must spend time painting labouriously around each tiny part you want to stay white. But that’s tedious and can deaden your work by interrupting what should be fluid lines. Masking is the quickest way to keep an area clean and liberate your brush strokes.
Why do many artists hate masking?
Common complaints about masking fluid are “It ruins the brush”, “How can I achieve fine lines?” “It goes all gloopy on me” “I always tear the paper” “It goes all hard in the bottle before I use it.”
End result is a ruined painting and an unhappy artist. Sound familiar?
What can you do?
Good news, there are lots of tips I can show you to will help you to overcome these issues! Masking is really the only solution and I can show you how to make the experience an enjoyable one.
