Painting Transformations are fascinating, aren’t they?
I’m always amazed with the whole process of developing a painting from a blank page. Last week I decided to try something new, video. OK, so I’ve done video before, but not like this.
But creating a painting in Progress video, of all the stages of painting, has been a challenge. I’ve not figured out how to light the masking fluid stage yet, so I decided to start with the first painting phase.
Even in the space of a week I’ve learned a lot.
Like, it works better if you turn the phone sideways, lighting makes a world of difference. So, here are my first, clumsy forays into the murky world of video.
Initial painting and cling film
Going in with the inks…
Inks over the initial dry painting.
More ink applied.
Acrylic ink and straws…
And finally, the removal of the masking fluid!
And here is the final painting.
