Art Talks and Demonstrations

Sketchbooks to Smartphones

11th February 2025

7:30-9:30pm

Buckingham Community Centre Cornwalls Mdw, Buckingham MK18 1RP

Are you feeling overwhelmed at the studio or trying to keep up with Social Media? You’re not alone and with Marketing, Social Media, and managing a studio, applications and exhibitions it can quickly become overwhelming. Cathy Read is a professional artist who uses technology to simplify the more mundane aspects of an artist’s life.

The aim of Cathy’s talk is to introduce artists to the new world of tools in the digital age. Tools that she uses in her professional practice. Tools that will help you manage your art for exhibitions, run your studio and to promote your art to the wider world via Social Media.

Artists have historically embraced advances in technology to further their creativity. From the camera obscura and photography, to new and often dangerous pigments. 21st Century artists are no different. Yet new technologies can feel terrifying to the uninitiated artist used to a hands on approach manipulating physical objects.

Please bring a phone or tablet if you’d like to explore some of the tools during the session to help you grow as an artist.
