This is another busy painting. The Porch of the Radcliffe Centre in Buckingham, the former United Reformed Church. The Porch is present, of course, but so much is included as part of the package of “The Porch”. A doorway, windows, a very cute buttress, a roof and gable end. Not to mention all the other windows and the wall. The painting goes over the top with colour as well. Purple and ochre predominate, but shades of brown; explosions of pink; green foliage with pink blossom. Inside the porch is dark purple, which is edged with raw sienna. The purple is fluid, especially in the top left where a tiny corner of sky is invaded by an expanding purple cloud.
Move your head and you’ll see silver reflections on the wall, in the stonework and where the porch meets the main building.
