Trafalgar Square- Original Painting
About the image:
Is Trafalgar Square the most photographed London Landmark?
Quite Possibly. Imagine you are there looking at the scene, the sun, warm on your back. The traffic stops and starts and people are talking in numerous languages, laughing and enjoying the day.
Pigeons strut their stuff. Not as many as there used to be, but still in large numbers. On my first visit to Trafalgar Square in London, you could buy cups of bird seed and would be flocked the moment you removed the lid. With the ban on bird feeding, their numbers have dropped, but there are still many hopefuls walking around. Occasionally flapping wings, as a child runs towards them, or they see someone with a sandwich and descend en mass, hopeful of some crumbs, or more.
Nelson’s column towers behind you, but that’s not important now, just enjoy the scene.
Creation: Masking fluid is painted onto watercolour paper to create an image. This is covered with a watercolour wash and covered with clingfilm. The picture is further developed using acrylic inks once the film is removed. The masking is removed after several layers are added and allowed to dry. Revealing the final picture.
