17 Palladian Arch – Original Painting

About the Image:

Painting number 17 – looking at Arches, so many arches!

The song “Underneath the Arches” was playing through my head, constantly while I painted this picture, and, if you know it, will probably be playing through yours now.
You’re welcome!

After much deliberation on the arches theme, I chose the Palladian Bridge at Stowe. The Palladian Arch is of one end of the famous Palladian Bridge at Stowe Landscape Gardens near Buckingham. One of it’s many curiousities.

It’s just too beautiful not to use, and I went for the hot pink in the painting again, although I later toned it down.

Creation: The image is created using masking fluid, then painted with a watercolour wash and covered with clingfilm. Once this is removed the picture is further developed using acrylic inks and building up layers, which are left to dry before the masking is removed to reveal the final picture.
