Impossible Roots- Original Painting
About the image:
London abstract painting depicting the Impossible Roots of the Gherkin. The focus was on the shapes that made up the building. It’s a curious thing about contemporary building techniques that make these seemingly impossible things possible. Surely the building cannot stand on a base so pointly? And yet it can and does. It’s like magic!
Creation: Masking fluid is painted onto watercolour paper to create an image. This is covered with a watercolour wash and covered with clingfilm. The picture is further developed using acrylic inks once the film is removed. The masking is removed after several layers are added and allowed to dry. Revealing the final picture.
