H Van Cafe – Original Painting
About the Image:
The H van Cafe was parked near the Hayward Gallery on a Grey day. There are so many street vendors in London that quirky ones like this are not unusual, but I have a soft spot for H vans. It’s a vintage style that endures. It’s urban life at its basic, no frills. On a grey day like this when only the hardy venture to eat outside it looks abandoned, but come back on a sunny day and you’ll be pushing through the crowds.
Creation: Masking fluid is painted onto watercolour paper to create an image. This is covered with a watercolour wash and covered with clingfilm. The picture is further developed using acrylic inks once the film is removed. The masking is removed after several layers are added and allowed to dry. Revealing the final picture. Â
