43 Red Tile Roof

You can’t really make out the tiles on this tiled roof. They are represented by lines but they were so close, I was afraid there would be no colour to see. So I omitted the vertical diagonal lines which would mark them out. The colours behind are a fluid mass ranging from dark red and burnt sienna to soft pastel greens and pinks.

The shape of the roof is distinctive with many facets. The gable end of the main roof comes in from the left. You can just see a chimney in the very corner. Tthe rear roof starts to the right of the main one, sloping towards us before widening out as it passes around the gable wall. Two thirds the way across it dips down at another angle forming a diagonal ridge where it changes direction in the foreground.

In front of the gable is a street lamp. The bracket holding it aloft, curving around the light and sweeping around and under before joining the pole leading to the ground.

In the top right, mottled greens and yellows mark a mass of trees. The odd patch of cerulean blue sky peeps through. As if to say “All is calm. All is good with the world.”
