Here’s the New Network Rail building… – well the painting at least. After thinking about The Fat Controller when this was a work in progress. The Postman Pat theme is now playing in my head. A disadvantage of having children I suspect. But here is the complete picture. I just need to work on a better title. Sir Topham’s Control Box perhaps? Too corny? I know, that’s my problem. Time to step away and look at it with fresh eyes in the morning.
Meeting people is inspiring. So many of those attending Open Studios enjoy suggesting new subjects. The wealth of visitor suggestions for new projects means I’m going to be busy for quite a while! Lots are talking about sport! And while I can’t think why… And I won’t be pursuing that particular direction. I toyed with the idea at last years Open Studios! Seems the right season for it, even if the weather is rebelling! Sometimes, it’s good to talk! The Network rail building painting is complete, but not dry enough to remove the masking. So I’ll post it Monday! In the meantime I’ve just produced my latest newsletter which can be found here!
Sometimes I struggle with titles… And other times they just leap out at me! Since completing this picture I’ve had a tune in my head… Destination Anywhere Perfect! That’s the beauty of Art. It can take you anywhere! So where are you heading?
Guess what?!!! I’ve something to reveal! After what feels like an eternity, the Milton Keynes Theatre painting is finally finished. I’m leaning to a title of “The Land of Make believe” or something like that. Based on the obvious association with creating fantasy situations. It seems appropriate. In the process of completing this painting and hanging “The Milton Keynes Project” I’ve observed 2 things. I don’t like the “new” paper I’m using. It’s far more fragile than my usual paper. I don’t care if it is rag based and “Top of the range”. It’s just not as good as my usual stuff for the way I work. No matter how carefully you frame 12 pictures you can guarantee you’ll find at least 1 hair/speck of dirt trapped in the frame when you come to hang them. And now as I finish one painting I move onto the next… Just! I wonder how this one will turn out?
With under a week to go to open Studios and 10 days to the Milton Keynes exhibition… Framing is dominating this week. But I’m making progress artistically. Time to reveal… This weeks completed Work in Progress. I’m in two minds whether more needs doing. But I’ve decided to leave it a while and re-post if I change my mind. This isn’t the Theatre itself, but the nearby area populated by people enjoying themselves. And where most theatre goers hang out before and after the shows. I think most are living their dreams… Or, if not, working out how to achieve them! Are you planning to live your dreams?
