Saturday Showcase is here…complete with promised swirls. A little later than planned…but Hey, it’s still Saturday! Well, it is where I am. I’m going with the title “Timeless design” Although it is an old building and VERY Victorian. Much of the design would work today – just loose the embellishments and it’s a classic roof structure! (I apologise for the poor image quality. I’ll replace it tomorrow when I have some decent light to rephotograph it!) My next painting I’m turning my attention back to Manchester! Sneak a peak on Wednesday!
This week – a break from Milton Keynes and Contemporary Architecture. I really need it! So I’m turning to the Business design Centre in London. Complete opposite – elaborate curves and lots of swirls! Although I’m still working on the curves so you can’t see any swirls yet. Very much the bare bones still… But they will be there by Saturday, I promise!
From the Bare Bones on Wednesday… I now reveal… Maintaining Communication! The idea for the title comes from a talk about parenting I attended years ago. It goes something like this… During the teenage years Children tend to go their own way and often out into orbit. All any parent can do is to maintain communication with the satellite… Until he or she returns to Earth! Now, the building in the background Milton Keynes’ Xscape Centre. Something of a Mecca for local youth with its Cinema, Climbing Wall and Snowdome. And… Let’s just say the 2 ideas fused!
Today’s work in progress is very early on in it’s development. I always start my city abstracts with a pencil sketch. And this one is about 1/3 of the way through the drawing phase. I confess, it’s not my favourite part of the process… But it’s essential for the success of the piece.
Today’s completed picture is Friday’s work in progress! I’m still not sure about the title though? Think it needs more work! And yes, it is a car park! Why paint a car park? For all the amazing architecture in Milton Keynes. And there’s plenty, if you know where to look. There are a wealth of Car Parks! It’s a Car Lovers Paradise! And looking at the vehicles in a car park can give so much insight into the people who live and work in an area!
This weeks work in Progress is another Milton Keynes View. I’m still debating the title. Something like “The playground of cars” appeals. Although, strictly speaking, it should be a motorway or racetrack for that to apply. Or maybe “Social networking for vehicles”? Nah, lacks punch! I’d love to hear your suggestions…
