I’ve had this ideas for a war tribute. Not a celebration of war more a reflection on the waste of life war entails. There are a few details I need to iron out but I really need to start it tonight if it is to be ready for the competition. I’m also aware that there could be several variations on the concept depending on the specific point I wish to make. Futility, loss of potential, the nitty gritty reality of conflict… Whatever I decide it will be a personal piece as I’ve chosen a photograph of a relative who didn’t make it back from the trenches as a basis for the face. I feel it needs to be authentic, not just a model. I’m at that stage where I’m pretty sure I know what I need to do. I’m a little terrified of starting … the “white canvas syndrome”.
